Generation Green FabricMagic was designed with the textile artist in mind. To ensure total color hold,
FabricMagic is added to the colorant water mixture.
Fabric Prep:
Wash and dry fabric; if the fabric is new, this removes any sizing
Dying Process:
NOTE: Generation Green Colorants are condensed, use sparingly ¿ it¿s easier to add a drop or two to obtain your desired
result.
- Mix 4 parts water to 1 part FabricMagic. Depending on desired intensity, add to the
FabricMagic, 1, 2 OR more drops of GG Colorant into your
water/FabricMagic mix (you may use a plastic baggie to mix your color)
- Saturate fabric into mixture and squeeze out extra liquid.
- Lay flat; let dry.
Multiple Colors:
- Dip fabric into several dyes at the same time or dip one color at a time
- Let dry between colors
- When you have achieved your desired design, press with dry steam iron.
- For best results do not use steam
Variations:
- Tie dye - use multiple colors
- Bunch fabric and secure with rubber bands for ¿flower¿ appearance
- Use NO VOC Wax as a resist
- Add designs with stencils; use NO VOC Wax as resist for dye as first step
or for multiple- layer dying
- Use fan brush for fine lines to create a crackling effect
- Add Generation Green Colorant as a color resist
- Stamp image onto fabric using Generation Green Colorant
- Paint onto dyed fabric using NO VOC Acrylic Paints
